It's been a week since the dragon Morishtomaric fell, and Sardelle is not convinced that Ridge is truly gone. With a companion who thinks he's a god and a soldier who would happily kill her, she heads back to the mountains to look for signs that Ridge survived. What they uncover threatens to destroy their country and all they care about.
Meanwhile, the Cofah emperor is furious with Iskandia over the loss of its airships and still has a bounty on Tolemek's head. King Angulus sends Tolemek, Cas, and Kaika on a daring mission that could solve both problems ...or leave them all dead.
Includes The Fowl Proposal bonus scenes, as well as a special note read by the author

From OldRetiredMilitary. As I have mentioned in other reviews, I do not usually enjoy fantasies: more of a science fiction, western, mystery, thriller guy. However, this series, both the story and Buroker's writing style captured my interest, and I read the entire 7 1/2 book series in record time. The author, in all of her stories I have read to date, uses humor, naughty sexual bantering and fade to black (except when writing as Ruby Lionsgate), has interesting characters and dragons, and fast-moving action scenes. Lindsay Buroker has a comfortable, easy to read style sprinkled with humor, and I look forward to reading more or her books. I am particularly hoping she writes more books in this fantasy punk steam universe because she left some very important questions unanswered: will the evil golden dragons be back, will Tolemek ever cut his hair, will Angulus and Kaika deepen their relationship, will Bhrava Saruth get enough belly rubs, will Ridge's Mom accept dragons and magic, will Pimples get together again with his Cofah princess, and will Ridge and Sardelle have a family? And of course I'm sure the whole gang have many more adventures awaiting. ARE YOU LISTENING LINDSAY?Product details

Soulblade Dragon Blood Book 7 (Audible Audio Edition) Lindsay Buroker Caitlin Davies Podium Publishing Books Reviews
I might be reaching my tolerance limit for this series, or this just was the weakest book in the series. I'm not sure which.
Honestly, I was not all that happy with this book. It supposedly starts about 1 week after Book 6, but at times it feels like it jumped in immediately at the end of book 6. The problem is that events here spin out more than a bit strangely. We have the new dragons who play a role, while the evil sorceress who had been a thorn in the side of the heroes for several books makes a prominent appearance here..
I think the sorceress was one of my bigger problems with this book. She has a clear agenda and works towards it diligently, but I never felt like it made all that much sense. Yes, she's powerful and the lands don't have any sorcerer of her power, but why she needed to do what she did never was really explored. She was more the implacable force always pushing forward, without a care.
In the end I didn't care for the plot, and the characters never got to shine like they did in previous books.
I liked the final installation in the series a bit more than I did the sixth book as this one didn't have Cas whining so much. I don't think I even remember her whining although Ridge is missing ... Also, Bhrava Saruth was a hoot and I adored him. If only they had found him sooner ... In addition, I found myself liking Therrik even though he was so unlikeable in the previous books and I was quite convinced that I'm going to hate him forever but he managed to redeem himself in my eyes.
There were basically three storylines. One about Ridge and his journey back to the capital. The second about Sardelle not believing Ridge to be dead and heading off to the mountains in order to find him. And the third about Cas, Tolemek, and Kaika on a mission that put them all in grave danger (I wouldn't have it any other way).
There were parts about Ridge's storyline that I quite enjoyed, there were parts that I found rather predictable and there was also this one part that I, like a lot of other readers, was not a fan of because I thought Buroker could and should have handled it a bit better.
I think I would've found Sardelle's storyline super boring without Bhrava Saruth along for the giggles as he definitely made that part of the story more intriguing. Also, the giggles he provided were most definitely appreciated.
The final storyline had most action to it and may I say it again that I love Tolemek? I also felt that our explosions-fanatic Kaika added to that storyline and she and Tolemek together were just lovely. It's a pity that we didn't get Kaika's POV.
Not that I'd ever recommend NOT finishing the series, but I do want to give an honest review and this one was my least favorite for several reasons. First, the action was slowed down by an uncharacteristic amount of thoughtful... thinking? Several times during a fast paced scene there was a time out for mental dialogue that lasted an extra ordinate amount of time, at least it seemed to me. Second, the teams were stretched all over the place, which is okay for a book in the middle of the series, or even right before the end, but for the final book, it leaves far too much unsettled for the final chapter. And there's a sense of disconnect because of it. Thirdly, it was just way too long! I would have preferred it to have been two separate novels. This may go against what I said as my first two critiques, but if it had been split into two separate stories, it could have been fully fleshed out and not had so much squished into each scene, leaving things feeling either too dragged out, or too rushed.
Those were the things I didn't like, but I will say I loved the addition of the new soulblade along with Sardelle's dragon (whose name I could go look up, but I can't remember the exact spelling). Those two additions were awesome. The new elite forces person (Qualtaldo) was cool too. I wish he could have been fleshed out, along with the sword and the dragon. Hate they came to the show so late.
I love love love this series and would definitely recommend anyone to read it all--and finish it--but the final book had several flaws. However, I still give it 3.5 stars.
